Default Help!! Apple logo stuck, tried everything

ok os i've had this 3gs for awhile now, and it used to be jailbroken, however i don't rmr what firmware or anything. one of my buddies did something to it and now its fully messed up. I've put it in dfu mode to restore but run into 1015 error i fixed that and got a apple update server thing error, i changed the apple server stuff on my mac osx lion, and it still gives me the same error. I'm just bypassing he host file so i could just upgrade or downgrade with apple interfering. my phone is stuck in recovery mode, and i can't kick it out of it, i've used tiny umbrella, ireb. Please help! i thought all iPhone mishaps were repairable loll!

Your friend probably updated the baseband to 6.15 to allow it to be unlocked. This breaks normal restore forever.

I always recommend custom IPSW with baseband update disabled. However FixRecovery (a separate download from the same author as TinyUmbrella) should also work. Note there are different versions of FixRecovery for 4.3.x and 4.2.x

how would i know if the baseband was updated to 6.15 and is there a way to disable the baseband update while building the ipsw? So if i used a custom 4.3.3 ipsw and a fixRecovery 4.3.3 it should work?

Well you can tell from the restore log (which is why I always tell people to publish their failed restore logs as with this information it's much easier to help)
Yes - if you make your own custom 4.3.3 (never trust a pre-made custom IPSW) with baseband update disabled. This should work (might need fixRecovery 4.3 also)
