I have just jail-broken and unlocked my shiny new 3GS using redsn0w 0.8/ultrasn0w 0.9 and all is good in my world. I recall a bunch of chatter on the dev team blog about needing to save some signed files if I want to jailbreak in the future.

Is this still true?

I'd hate go go through all of that rigmarole if I don't have to.

if you do go thru the process to get the cert thru the purplera1n site, if you would be kind enough to make a dump of your firmware once you jailbreak it and upload it and pm me the link me and my friends would appriciate the help

Why do you think the Dev Team tell you to get these files?

You don't have too but please don't complain if you haven't got them and can't JB after 3.1 is released.

i wonder if they will ever have a plan that will pass this up, or will next gen redsn0w require you to select those signed files in 3gs mode

smitopher i would go ahead and use ibss and ibec grabber to get the files but itdoes require you to restore

I am sure they are working on it. But until they find a solution without the signed files you will not be able to restore a custom FW.
The Dev Team (or someone else) might find a way round this before they are ever needed - but if they don't and you don't have your filed you will be well and truly fcuked

Why you been so angry with dev team. Me jail broken my phone and still using it. Indeed I am pleased by dev team's job. Don't worry for signed files.

That's just wrong. If he doesn't have the signed files, when FW 3.1 comes out he won't be able to jailbrake, and therefore, unlock his iPhone 3GS.
