I have iphone 3gs (got it first week it came out) and running 3.0 firmware jailbroken with red snow.
I do not have my ECID SHSH file saved with Cydia as my Cydia started going haywire about 6 months ago and was never fixed.
My iphone started crashing a lot recently and I wanted to be able to restore or upgrade to 3.0 or 3.1.2 just in case it bricked in the near future.
I do have my iBEC and iBSS file saved on my computer.
So with all this, is there any way to get my ECID? and will I be able to restore or upgrade?
You need the SHSH for 3.1.2 or lower.

iBEC and iBSS are not enough (unless you also saved the per###tmp folder structure that these files were originally contained in. Then you might have enough to make your own SHSH)

Even if Cydia was screwed, the procedure for getting a SHSH without even jailbreaking using firmware umbrella has been documented for months now. You had plenty of time to get this before Apple stopped signing 3.1.2

I do have the per####.tmp folder. So how should I go about getting my SHSH for a firmware?

You can do this with tinyTSS or with the SHSH tool in this thread [Howto] Create a 00.SHSH from your signed iBEC/iBSS files/folders

The PER#####.tmp must be complete, meaning has everything in it for shsh_tool or firmware umbrella to work.

    Good luck megaman.

I had my complete per##.tmp folder, and used shsh_tool to make 3.0.1 shsh blob - which Cydia did NOT have for my 3gs..

My question is, if shsh_tool claims it completed the creation task successfully (yay!), is there anyway to test it without actually doing a restore?

    (just curious)

The only way to test is an actually restore.
You can use firmware umbrella tinyTSS to serve the hash.
When itunes begins the restore, it will request the hash from gs.apple.com (which is now redirect to your localhost). If the hash is no good, the restore will fail and nothing send to your phone / no actual restore took place.

I wonder if I can get saurik to add this 3.01 blob to his server too?

I have to admit something, I stumbled across this whole thing - I'm so glad I saved the entire folder - and not just the ibec and ibss files. I think I only saved the whole folders for 1 of my 3gs(es).... This is a life lesson for all those reading - DO WHAT YOUR TOLD. I read to backup the "keys" - I did, now I can safely restore my 3GS to any of the 3 firmware's... 3.01, 3.1.2 or 3.1.3

MANY THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED! WHO ARE TOO NUMEROUS TO MENTION BY NAME!

No. I don't think you can add it, but I'm sure Saurik can manually add it for you into server. . But I doubt he would have time to entertain something like that. Just store your local shsh on your computer, on your mediafire account and etc ...

i have 2 3GS. one is jailbroken, the other is not.
The one that JB has full shsh.
The one that's not does not have anything on Cydia but I saved the initial PER####.tmp when getting ibec/ibss, therefore i was able to reconstruct like you did. Not too many people can reconstruct because they deleted their PER####.tmp. For the one that not JB, for every firmware that comes out, I always use fw umbrella to save my hash so that phone has full hash as well :-)

We have a total of 4 3GSes in my family (me, wife, and kids) I noticed I had a total of 3 per####.tmp folders stored for my 3gs, all had different files, but I merged them together per the instructions of umbrella, and it was able to recreate the 3.01 blob for my 3gs. The other 3gs's, I have the per####.tmp folders, but they are no where near as "complete" as mines were.

As I remember, I grabbed one from regular restore, and one from dfu mode restore - and as I recall one of the times I did it, I didn't end up with either the ibec or ibss file, and that's why I have 3 folders for my 3gs.

My wife's - for example, I have the per####.tmp folder still - but I must have gotten both the ibec and ibss on a single try, because within her phone's per####.tmp folder, there are just a few of the required files, but both ibec and ibss... and as I remember, I didn't "delete" anything from there, I just copied as quickly as I could from the windows temp folder as instructed (back then) I guess when I did mine I grabbed/copied the folder when it had most of the stuff in it, and when I did her's I must have copied the folder before it completely populated??? I don't know.

I know on one of the 3GS's, there was an app by then that would grab them for you, and it DID NOT save the whole per####.tmp folder, just grabbed the files, which apparently are worthless without the rest of the files contained within the per####.tmp folders.

And the last 3GS has the 3.0 SHSHS on file with cydia, it was the ONLY one of 4 in my family that "got in" and got the keys, and it was actually the 3rd one in purchase time-line....

Anyway, this was a cool experience. I'm personally still running 3.01 with 04.26 as I need the unlock (T-mobile USA) - so I'm excited to be able to try 3.1.3, 3.1.2 or whatever and be able to go back if I have any troubles

I'm sure no one really care's, but ..........

Since I planned on upgrading my 3GS to 3.1.3, I decided to try a restore to 3.0.1 using the shsh blob I created using umbrella... and it worked just fine
