Default Do you own an iPhone 3GS?

If you have bought a 3GS, reply to this post saying if you have it activated with an Official carrier or not. ( Posting pictures would be good too )

If not (I can't help but ask this since I will be in this position soon) what are you doing with your device aside from the USB dump?

We should start getting all creative about this.. since there is a good chance that the JB might not come anytime soon.

Bought, 32GB 3G S from apple.com the day after it was announced. Received it launch Friday. Activated legitimately on AT&T. Did a switcheroo with my fiancee's new AT&T account to get the device at the $299 price point.

    First impressions:
    1) Jesus, the S really does stand for speed.
    2) Holy crap, that's what it's like when you have a decent camera?
    3) Wow, a phone that lasts more than one day between charges!
    4) Haha, mobileconfig tethering was so easy.

Here in the uk I got a pay as you go On O2 450 so it's activated but not tied to a contract as such. Offsetting some of the cost with my old windows mobile HTC touch HD.

Bought the 1st gen iPhone but quickly sold it as while it was n still a slick user friendly handset, it lacked the functionality of my win mob, landscape keyboard, tomtom gps, USB file storage/transfer, editing word docs...infamous copy n paste.lol!

I passed up on the 3G mainly due to the camera. I'm glad I did the 3GS is a hell lot faster than a 3G, the camera is a improvement and there are some photoediting apps to help aswell. The app store has Injected the needed funtionality.

For now I'm patienly waiting on the dev team to release the JB & UL, which will prob happen in the next 2-3 wks as 3.1 is now being released to Devs.

I bought a 16GB black 3GS a few days ago in anticipation of the Jailbreak. Have never had a contract with AT&T (originally hardware unlocked my 2G 8GB), but had to open one to get the 3GS. It's sitting at home in its box after getting the sig file downloaded and me playing with it a bit. I'll be canceling the AT&T contract after the first month.

Ouch, they'll ding you $200 as an ETF for cancelling the contract and $200 for the subsidy on the phone (in the contract you signed or agreed to electronically when you bought the device) ... Just be expecting it.

Still cheaper to buy the phone out of contract and get service on an alternate provider (or buy with contract and cancel) than it is to buy the phone and service from AT&T. Plus you then get the added benefit of not having to deal with AT&T. That's always an added bonus!

What? The ETF for AT&T is $175, with $5 subtracted for every month of service completed. After 30 days, you can cancel the contract, pay the $170 ETF plus the 30 days of service you used (about $70 plus tax) along with your $35 activation fee. 199+170+35+70+tax = $474 plus tax, and that's a lot cheaper than the $599 no-contract price that you'd pay (even though you can't buy it without contract in the US yet).

Not sure where your numbers came from.
