Hello all. I've been doing so much research on this, but to no avail. I'd like to jailbreak and unlock my 32GB iPhone 3GS (firmware 3.1 and baseband 05.11.07). I bought it in mid-to-late August 2009. I read in **THIS** guide that 3.1 users that have not backed up their SHSH to Cydia are SOL. However, since my phone was made before 3.1 was released, can I restore it and jailbreak it as an earlier version? Also, I've read (through various online, and potentially dubious websites) that baseband 05.11.07 is not unlockable. True or false? If not, can it be downgraded to be unlocked?

Thanks in advance. I'm sure you guys see a thousand of these posts daily, so I'm grateful for any responses.

Okay:
Check your bootrom version: PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X

1. If old bootrom use pwnagetool: (don't ask about sn0wbreeze it's not supported here) iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.3 Using PwnageTool (Mac)
2. Install push doctor http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/113610.htm
3. Unlock with fixed/stable blacksn0w RC2 http://www.hackint0sh.org/f230/117709.htm

If new bootrom, you can try:

1. to jailbreak with blackra1n iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone, iPod Using BlackRa1n [Windows]
2. Then install AFC2Add from Cydia
3. Install push doctor http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/113610.htm
4. Unlock with fixed/stable blacksn0w RC2 http://www.hackint0sh.org/f230/117709.htm

Get your SHSH for 3.1.3 (good to have)
