Default Can I install free apps on my jailbroken 3GS ?

    Hey guys,
I just registered on this forum and it's great. I'm sorry if there is a similar thread somewhere in the forum. So here is the deal, I have a jailbroken 3gs 32gb running 3.1.3 (jailbroken with spirit) and I'm wondering if it will be ok if I download an app from the appstore and install it on my iPhone ? The only app I need from there is the new version of Skype (2.0). Somebody told me before that if I do that all my apps will be deleted it but I don't think this is gonna happen. However I'm sure you know better than me. Thank you guys.

sorry buddy, this site doesn't promote any kind of piracy of apps but you can google some of the iphone blogs and they can help you out. This is such a cool forum and I don't want it to get shut down. "Google is your friend"

What are you talking about ??? The whole forum is about piracy !!! blackra1n, ultrasn0w etc.. what are these ? Legal tools to make your phone cooler ? All the guides about jailbreaking are legal ? Go tell your little tails to somebody else! You're just a simple member as I am !!!

marlon31 is correct. Piracy is not condoned here. If you think jailbreaking and unlocking are the same as piracy, you couldn't be more wrong. Do not post about piracy here, don't ask about it, don't talk about pirate apps. Most of the people who write the apps you're trying to steal visit these forums and don't appreciate it when people can't kick the $1.99 in that they want for their apps -- which I think is extremely reasonable. If you can't separate jailbreaking and unlocking from piracy, then please leave the forum until you can -- they are not the same thing.

That said, to answer your initial question -- jailbreaking and unlocking the phone have no impact on your ability to legitimately purchase and run applications from the iTunes App Store. There ARE applications out there that can impact your ability to run legitimately purchased iPhone / iPod / iPad apps -- most of them are related to piracy and and once you've installed them, you'll have a host of problems running legitimate applications in the future until you completely wipe your phone, but if you do not install those applications (and they will not be mentioned by name here), then you should have absolutely no problem using your legit apps on your jailbroken/unlocked iPhone. This is another reason that piracy is frowned on so significantly here -- all of the tools related to it on the iPhone are buggy, poorly coded, and poorly supported. Once installed, they cause more problems than they solve and can cause troubleshooting headaches and hassles on otherwise working devices. They impact your ability to use your phone for the things you legitimately purchased it for.

When it comes to piracy, we don't support it, don't condone it, recommend against it, and do not tolerate its discussion in this forum.

Thread closed. Don't open another one on the topic or you'll get a warning.
