Put in your private simcard - any simcard. connect to iTunes and you'll be set.

Unlocked iphone from Australia
Got the phone from Australia a few hours ago. Very quick just 2 days to New York. Put is the SIM and it is locked. Phone is from Apple Australia. E mailed the seller and he has been very very helpful. He claims only second time Apple gave him a locked phone. So gave him the IMEI and serial number and he will go to Apple when they open. He suggested Apple will send an unlocked phone to my local Apple storfe and when it arrives I will go and swap phones. Anyone know if Apple can alter the servers so they can recognize the phone and then unlock it? Still hopeful it will be resolved

Apple can do and did so in the past many times.

Thanks for the information. Worst is that I will jailbreak and unlock the phone but the idea was to buy a legally unlocked phone. I am still waiting to hear back from Australia

If I were you I'd activate the iPhone via iTunes (if they unlock it), then just jailbreak. This would be the way to go for - best of both worlds

Unlocked iphone from Australia
So far nothing from Australia. Apple deciding what to do. They tell me a solution in the next 24 hours so shall wait until then.
Question if I jailbreak and unlock now and later they officially unlock the phone can I then use official procedures to upgrade to newer OS.
Thanks

Unlocked iphone from Australia
Latest update. Can't use software to unlock bevause for some reason it is locked to an Australian carrier. Some quirk in 3GS?? Anyway even tried to activate using the legal ATT SIM. Nothing.
Seller wants me to send the phone back to Australia and then he will replace. I said no. After reaching an impasse I contacted Pay Pal and the whols sale is now under dispute. If he replaces the phone I would immediately remove the dispute from Pay pal.

Sad to read your having this BS trouble buddy but from an experience I've had with ebay & paypal you will need to return the item otherwise I don't think Paypal will act on the behalf & take the funds back from the seller.

Anyone have experience with iPhone from Belgium?
I see more than one post here with people from UK getting their phone from Italy. Belgium is closer. Is there something wrong with the iPhones from Belgium that makes people go all the way to Italy?
Are they unlocked but only for Belgium providers? Does their 3G signal only work in Belgium? Or maybe they are unlocked but you still have to buy a plan from Mobistar?
I'm in Holland and Belgium is right next-door. Can I go ahead and get one from Mobistar or will I regret it?
