Question Backup or sync itunes purchased songs from iPhone

    Hello,everyone! I am a iPhone jackaroo.
How do i do a backup or copy/paste to hard drive all the songs existing in my iphone which most of them i purchased online at itunes?
When i try to synch with itunes program it says it will delete all of them and paste the library of my computer!
What can do me a favor to transfer iPhone music to iTunes?
    Thanks in advance.

There is an option in Itunes to transfer purchases from your phone. You probably need to connect the phone to the computer where you originally synced it with. You can't just "copy the purchases" to another computer - that would be piracy.

    hey~guys
you may check the "import" function. You import files/songs into itunes. And don't auto sync, otherwise, iTunes will replace all iPhone existing songs. I've suffered loss of all my iPhone music files. It's so upsetting.
There is a step by step instruction on how to transfer songs/music from iPhone to iTunes on PC.
Hope it can do you a favor.

Olethros had the most elegant and correct solution, and baro has a close second -- just wanted to chime in with my $0.02.

Here's the only real legitimate way you can do this in an easy manner:

    1) Connect the phone to iTunes and cancel any sync that begins.
    2) In iTunes, right click on <Username's> iPhone on the left side, and select 'Transfer Purchases'
    3) Wait for the operation to complete.

This will take all applications and media from the phone that has been purchased through iTunes that is associated with the iTunes Store account that your iTunes has been activated for. If you have not yet activated the PC, you will be prompted to do so before the transfer. Once the transfer has completed, check your iTunes Media Library for the MP3s you had purchased, they should show up (though I think they'll be M4A when you get directly from iTunes on the device, I can't remember). At that point you can copy them out of the iTunes Library folder and into a folder of your choice.

If for some reason those steps don't work, you do have a couple of more in-depth options that aren't as elegant or clean, and they all revolve around pulling that actual .M4A or .MP3 files from the device using iFunbox/DiskAid/iPhoneBrowser/SSH and then having an mp3 renaming program rename them from their ID3 tags (as they are named funny names by iTunes like 912i.MP3)

Importing that carol suggested is fine if you are trying to take files you already have on your computer and bring them into the iTunes library, but it will not help in this specific instance as you're trying to take the files from the iPhone and bring them to your computer, not vice versa. iFunbox will work as baro suggested but it's not the easiest method and I believe iFunbox requires registration -- a free and functional replacement is iPhonebrowser, available at sourceforge, just do a quick google search.

    Good luck!

    Cool

not sure if it is legal to save files from your iphone but having said that, i-FunBox | File Manager, Browser, Explorer, Transfer Tool for iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch via USB is free (I've been using since the last version, don't actually know if it used to require registration or something) and doesn't save files with funny names (the only program I've been able to try out whit this feature)
it is also quite easy to use, just use the "recovery music and video" option and then "copy file to PC"
oh, you need a jailbroken iPhone of course

    ps
on their website there's a "it works even on not JB device" it seems like I was wrong!

Have you authorized your new computer with your iTunes account? If not, do so. (you can authorize up to 5 computers on a single iTunes account)Once you've done that, then right mouse on your iPhone > choose "Transfer Purchases" That action will download all of your iPhone data/apps/music/video to your computer

Right click on the iPhone in iTunes, and select transfer purchases.
If you don't have a right click button hold the control key while you click.
