Default App migration from iTouch to hacked iPhone

    Greetings from Oregon!

Welp, it looks like I dorked up the unlock, skipped a step and inadvertently let iTunes update me to 4.3 / 5.16.01. The unlock/jailbreak activity will have to wait while the dev team works their magic with their next rev and I'll try again and pay closer attention. DOH!

While I wait, I figure I'd ponder some steps that are further down this path and maybe y'all can help me un-fuzzy something...

I'm retiring my iTouch after I get this 3GS working with T Mobile and I'm not quite sure how I'll move all the apps I've purchased to the iPhone.

I've given it its own name different from the iTouch (duh) so how do I force iTunes to sync those aps to to the iPhone going forward? I'm not looking for copyright violation instructions here-- I don't intend to use the apps on both devices. I'm talkin' permanent migration here.

I'm sure there's a deceptively simple something I'm missing here.

    Lil help, please!

    HUGE thanks!

If you mean that you want to keep all the settings within each app (high scores etc). Your best option is to restore a backup of your iPod touch onto your 3GS then rename the 3GS and you should be fine.

It's way less about the settings and mostly about the apps themselves.

How do I "sync" or whatever the right activity is all of my apps that were purchased via the iTouch or first sync'd with the iTouch and now get the iPhone to be THE handheld that iTunes loads those existing apps to and syncs with going forward?

    Thanks,

You can't set one iDevice as the primary recipient of apps. They sync to all devices (if supported on that device/iOS version)

You don't need to do anything special to sync the same apps to your iPhone. As long as your iTunes is logged in with same iTunes account that was used to purchase the apps.

Sounds great and simple but unfortunately, that's not what I see.
With the iPhone attached and I'm clicked into the "Apps" tab, it only shows me "Herbert Hoover's iPhone" in the header and only the out-of-the box apps currently on this freshly reset and wiped iPhone. None of my iTouch apps I've been using are represented in iTunes unless the iTouch is jacked in to USB.

Shift right-click (or maybe just right click) on the iPhone in the list on the left hand side and tell it to restore from backup. Pick a backup of your iPod Touch and deploy that backup to the phone. This will bring it up to speed with the most recent backup you made of the iPod Touch, while removing any data currently on the iPhone.
