Most likely it will wait until new iPhone hardware comes in June. There appears to be three new iPhone models in the works.

New jailbreak is not based on a hardware/bootrom exploit, so can be closed by Apple in a future OS update. This makes timing of the jailbreak release important. OS 4.0 most likely is the current release target.

Why do people keep asking this over and over and over and over and over and over? Wish the mods would delete these threads and issue warnings. The forums are so flooded with the same questions that have been answered numerous times that threads with questions from people who actually read the announcements and have legit questions get buried. Watch the proper places, when it's released, you'll find out.

Deleting the threads and issuing warnings wouldn't help the end-users get to the answer they were looking for. Everyone was a noob on this forum once and I'm sure we've all asked questions that were already answered. A little tolerance goes a long way towards fostering a welcoming and active community.

But I don't disagree, it gets really obnoxious to see the same 3 questions asked every day... (How do I jailbreak/unlock model X? Can I jailbreak/unlock 3.1.3? Has anyone heard of a new jailbreak/unlock?) I just don't see the value in spending time to warn them and not spending the same amount of time answering their question, but that's just me -- I can't speak for any of the other mods.

If you can not be helpful skip this thread and find the one that you can be helpful. Its like if you have a valuable info pass it on if not its much better to be quite otherwise you will hear things that you don’t want to. This should be lesson learned for you.

Every new owner of an iphone 3GS that wants to Jailbreak or whatever will come straight to this forum.... and ask n00b questions...like I did.

Mods/Admins, What about a little sticky at the top called:

New iphone 3GS owner? Want to Jailbreak?? or something..

in there you explain that a tethered (ie. gotta be plugged into your mac/pc when booting/restarting iphone) Jailbreak is possible for 3.1.2/3.1.3 and new Boot rom and then links to devteam blog and/or files required. save a lot of the same questions I reckon..

I see your point, and I understand. Yes we were all noobs here at some point, but some more than others had the common sense to follow the rules and read the stickies at least.

It does get crazy ridiculous when you have several threads on the same page all asking is the jailbreak out yet? is the jailbreak out yet? Trust me folks, even if you don't hang around the boards or irc all day, even if you dont subscribe to any rss feeds, or twitter, or whatever, my money is on if your on a computer at least a tiny little bit during the day, you will know when the jailbreak is released, because it will be, ya know, the biggest news of the week. I thought in IRC they just started kicking and banning peeps who come in and ask the same question again and again that is already answered right in the topic.

But I digress, I will cage my frustration and go back to my quiet little corner now.

Agreed -- what people don't seem to understand is that even if the only way you'd hear about the jailbreak is via Carrier Pigeon, you'd still have heard about it. Heck, even if you are only accessible via smoke signals, you'd still hear about the jailbreak and unlock -- this kind of stuff is big news.

I don't think the people are coming and asking for JB for 3.1.3 are noob.how some one predicate that, may be they know this site is very reliable source for them that why they are asking here or they are thinking member of this forum are very helpful and eligible to provide right information to them from many fake sites offer JB and unlock for 3.1.3 is available but you have to pay some amount of money. If some is not interested or comfortable in answering question,so leave it or don't open that thread, because this called frustration. If some one follow the step and do the jailbreak or unlock and getting news and updates so they are genius so think once or twice, you are not a geo.If don't no about any person so don't try to predict any thing. Please consider your self first.
