I was able to extract ICE2_05.11.07.eep and ICE2_05.11.07.fls from the ramdisk. I've also been able to put BBUpdaterExtreme on the iphone along with both baseband files. However, when I run BBUpdaterExtreme, it gets to the point that it says:

    Gathering modem information...OK
    Checking Static EEP backup...
    - backup is OK
Checking Static EEP backup -- All OK

And then it just sits there. Phone doesn't lock up, terminal doesn't lock up. It simply doesn't go any further. I did successfully take the daemon down (signal goes to Searching...). Anyone have any idea why this isn't working?

Did you extract the files on snow leopard?

If you extract the files on another platform, these files are 0kb. They should have the following size.

    Code:
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 user staff 106816 30 Jul 03:46 ICE2_05.11.07.eep
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 user staff 6716120 30 Jul 03:46 ICE2_05.11.07.fls
    md5 for each

    Code:
    md5 ICE2_05.11.07.eep
    cdb2b86f15fbf273d74d8e28d61c27ed
    Code:
    md5 ICE2_05.11.07.fls

That's exactly my problem, and what I figured the problem was. My files are only 36K and 3.4M. I've even tried making a zip file with them in it, can't manage to get the real files over to windows. Even using MacDrive, in there I see the files as 0 byte files. Any chance of posting or emailing me the 2 files, or is that against the rules? So close, yet so far!

It would seem after some research that my problem is that these are HFS+ compressed files. I have no access to snow leopard, only regular leopard and windows. Do I have any way of getting the uncompressed files or am I just screwed at this point?

Was finally able to rip the files out with a Snow Leopard install. Updated the baseband firmware to 5.11.07 successfully and all my connectivity problems instantly disappeared. Thank you very much for the pointers!

Okay.. did some more digging, this is possible for those on windows including extracting the files. You don't even need to decrypt the DMG on the phone.

Example below is decrypting 3G 3.1.3 IPSW to get the 05.12.01 baseband.

If you can grab a windows compile of xpwn package (not just xpwntool) for example from here: http://support.gsm.vn/index.php?dir=....5.8-win32.zip

plz support me with the name of dmg file of 3.1.3 ( one of dmg files is begger than 2 other so i think thats it )
Either or the smaller files will work. The names change in each OS release.

In 3.1.3 you should use 018-6494-014.dmg which is the restore ramdisk.

Yes you will need to substitute the name of the correct dmg and the correct decryption keys.

for 3.1.3 on a 3G using the restore ramdisk the command line would be:
    Code:
    xpwntool 018-6494-014.dmg 018-6494-014.dmg_decrypted.dmg -k 7029389c2dadaaa1d1e51bf579493824 -iv 25e713dd5663badebe046d0ffa164fee
There is another tool in the xpwnsuite that can extract single files from a DMG and has support for the HFS compression which is used in the 3.x series DMGs (other windows based tools with pretty GUIs don't yet support this)

    Code:
    hfsplus.exe 018-6494-014.dmg_decrypted.dmg extract /usr/local/standalone/firmware/ICE2_05.12.01.fls .\ICE2_05.12.01.fls
    Code:
    hfsplus.exe 018-6494-014.dmg_decrypted.dmg extract /usr/local/standalone/firmware/ICE2_05.12.01.eep .\ICE2_05.12.01.eep
    Code:
    hfsplus.exe 018-6494-014.dmg_decrypted.dmg extract /usr/local/bin/BBUpdaterExtreme .\BBUpdaterExtreme

    Hum....
I don't know why mobileterminal would crash on you like that.
Without mobile terminal running, I'm not sure of another way to shutdown commcenter and executre BBUpdaterExtreme from an ssh session.
There is way to send all the commands in one shot but I'm not sure it is safe to do so.

I say let's try and figure out why your mobileterminal crashed

Where are you running BBUpdaterExtreme - it has to be run directly on the iPhone via SSH or mobile terminal.

Your error suggests you are running this on your mac.
