Question 3GS not restoring - stuck at "operation 28 progress -1"

    Hi there,

    details are as following:

    -iPhone 3GS 32GB
    -old bootrom #983067 - Pastie
-was jailbroken (not mine, so I am not sure if it was 3.1.3 or 3.1.2)
    -no shsh's on file

Here is what I tried so far:

    1)

-restore to custom 3.1.2 in recovery mode
-restore to custom 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in dfu-mode
-restore NOR only 3.1.3 in recovery mode

    2)

irecovery in recovery mode and with
    setenv boot-args "rd=md0 nand-enable-reformat=1 -progress"
    setenv auto-boot false
    saveenv
    reboot

    again

-restore to custom 3.1.2 in recovery mode
-restore to custom 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in dfu-mode
-restore NOR only 3.1.3 in recovery mode

    3)

irecovery in recovery mode and with
    setenv boot-args "rd=md0 nand-enable-reformat=0 -progress"
    setenv auto-boot false
    saveenv
    reboot

    again

-restore to custom 3.1.2 in recovery mode
-restore to custom 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in dfu-mode
-restore NOR only 3.1.3 in recovery mode

    4)

rslite upload ibss and ibec and

    again

-restore to custom 3.1.2 in recovery mode
-restore to custom 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in recovery mode
-restore to original 3.1.3 in dfu-mode
-restore NOR only 3.1.3 in recovery mode

    5)

    -ran redsn0w

    6)

-ran redsn0w with "verbose mode" selected

    7)

    -ran blackra1n

all steps above were taken twice (except for rslite), once in win xp (bootcamp) and the other time in snow leo 10.6.3. lib-usb installed on both systems.
also used different versions of irecovery.

when trying to restore, the iphone will get to the progress bar, but stay there forever. the progress bar won't move a bit.

    itunes restore log is here:

    #983038 - Pastie

this "operation 28 progress -1" will just continue forever!

    irecovery log is here:

    #983066 - Pastie

could not find what "operation 28" actually does. Seems iphone is unresponsive at some point (hw fault?)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Max

Switch USB port and restart you system. Open Itunes and restore your Iphone in DFU mode.
