3gs Bricked in Restore Loop, At wits end!
Hello everyone, my problem is a 3gs that I bought on Ebay. I fix broken iphones so I buy them often from there. This one was locked with a password and the seller did not know the password, backlight was out also. I fixed backlight and got past the password issue by screwing around with the emergency call feature. It had apparently been jailbroken with greenpoison, do not know if it was unlocked. It is locked in a restore loop and nothing I have tried has helped. I have searching solutions for a week now and no luck, redsn0w, irecovery, fixrecovery, etc. I don't know what baseband it is on or what the latest update was, although I suspect 4.3.4. Itunes won't restore it obviously. I figured I'd come on here and let someone who knows more than me give it a shot...

I seem to be having a similar problem.
Been having problems since yesterday trying to update to iOS 5 from 4.2.1 on a 3GS. The phone had previously been jailbroken on 3.x.x but is just running the normal versions. I got an error during the first attempt and since then my phone is stuck in recovery mode (with the itunes logo & USB cable). I have attempted to restore on 2 different computers (win7 x64 & vista x86), and on 2 different user profiles on each. I have added the "Device Support" folder, I have tried when the device is in dfu mode, but nothing seems to be working.
I mostly seem to be getting error code 6 now, but I have also had 2300, 1600, 14, 28.
I have followed all the steps on the apple support pages but nothing seems to be working.
This is the error log from the latest one: iPhoneUpdater17 - Pastebin.com
I'm hoping that will make sense to someone as I have no idea what to make of that.
The progress bar usually gets to about 70-75% before the error comes up.
