Default 3GS 4.3.1 does not have passcode, but still asks for it to reset all settings !?!?

I bought this 3GS it is jailbroken and unlocked on 4.3.1 06.15 and it does not have a passcode. However, when I try to reset all settings it asks me for a passcode. The previous owner tells me he never had any passcode set up on the phone! Is this normal or I am missing something? Please help!

Although I haven't tested it, it's likely that this phone has been configured with the Enterprise config utility. This is why you can't erase all content and settings without a passcode.

I don't believe Erase all Content and Settings is a useful option anyway. It causes problems for the majority of people who try it.

Why not just extract the SHSH blobs with iFaith and restore the phone using an iFaith personalised custom 4.3.1 IPSW? Then set the phone up as new. That will achieve the same result.

iFaith can extract a partial SHSH blob from the iOS device itself. This can then be used to restore a specially made custom IPSW.

    iH8sn0w.com

In other words it allows reinstall of the same iOS version even when Apple has stopped signing SHSH blobs for that iOS version.
