3Gs 3.1.2 stuck in DFU mode!
Hi, i dont know how my iPhone 3Gs, 3.1.2, new bootrom, stuck in DFU mode..!!
the last thing i used was Blackra1n, it restarted and showed nothing, i thought it stuck, tried to turn it on it didnt respond, tried both home and power button for 10 seconds (normally it restart it for me) it didnt work!..
i plugged it in, opened iTunes, it saw it as in DFU mode and want to restart, i cant restore it to 3.1.3 of course since i didnt save the SHSH with Cydia...
is there a way to get it out of DFU mode? i tried iRecovery, it didnt help, it didnt even see there was an iPhone connected...
Right now, im waiting for the battery to drain, and hopefully when it boots the next time it will be out of DFU mode, if any one knows something else id be happy to test

If the phone is really stuck in DFU mode, there is nothing you can do. Your LLB is corrupted and you have no choice but to restore to OS 3.1.3 and wait for a new jailbreak.

Your phone is going into DFU mode because the NOR contents fail the signature checks. If your NOR firmware is corrupted, of course you have no recourse but to use the hardware method.
See The iPhone Wiki: DFU for more details
The only thing that the iPhone will accept at this point is signed files from an IPSW. This is why the SHSH is so important.

i got this iPhone with 3.1.2 but Apple stopped signing the 3.1.2 the same day i got it.. Cydia kept my request bend till it got stuck, i think the reason it got corrupt was mistakenly using Blackra1n RC1 and not RC3.. this is the only thing i did wrong with it when i tried to get it out from recovery mode that normally it gets into after the restart..

The hardware method as quoted refers to the true DFU mode, which is entirely hardware based. Recovery mode is software based and exploits in recovery mode can be patched by Apple in a later OS release (this is what happened with 3.1.3, the blackra1n hole is closed)

Bit too late now, but you should have tried firmware umbrella it gives immediate confirmation as to whether you can get a SHSH for a specific OS version or not.
Yes definitely, blackra1n RC2 was the first version to support tethered jailbreak so running RC1 was your problem.

To cancle DFU after unchaged battery?
Folks,
I own an iPhone 3GS (FW 3.0), unbroken. After its battery was accidently uncharged completely, it now starts only with the uncharged battery symbol on the screen, if the charger is plugged in. It does not boot at all. Only chance is DFU mode.
But I do not want iTunes to recover the phone, because it will delete all unbackuped data on the phone. My problem is that after the last backup by iTunes some important data (fotos and vids) have been recorded in the phone, which I not want to lose.
Ideally, I would like to find a way to exit DFU without restoring with iTunes.
Do you have an idea?
Thanks for your reply.

What you're describing does not sound like a phone stuck in DFU mode. Have you tried using an alternate charger and a different USB cable and leaving it to charge overnight? If the device isn't getting a charge trying to flash the firmware in DFU mode could be worse than doing nothing -- if your device powers off halfway through a flash it could brick the heck out of it.
I wouldn't mess with DFU mode until you figure out why it's not charging. Just because it died completely doesn't mean it needs to be kickstarted or tethered, unless you have a specific model with a specific bootloader. Plus, if the device needed to be kickstarted it would be showing you the Connect to iTunes logo -- not an empty battery.
I wouldn't start messing with DFU mode yet, you can really get yourself into trouble if you're running earlier versions of the firmware, don't have the SHSH blobs, or haven't done the TinyUmbrella / Cydia "Make my life easier"....

I am not sure why you are in DFU but I was there a couple of days ago due to me disconnecting the iphone while syncing anyway to get out of DFU just do the following:
1) HOLD BOTH POWER & HOME BUTTONS for 10 seconds.. it should boot up. if it doesnt then let go of the power and keep holding the HOME BUTTON for another 10~20 seconds.
Good Luck
