First off it's impossible to determine what you're saying by your post -- you didn't include much of the important information. All I can gather is that someone plugged your phone into iTunes and now your baseband is 5.12.01 and now you get no signal. That probably means they upgraded you to 3.1.3. Secondarily, this is the iPhone 3GS forum, but I think in your post you illustrated you were using a 3G.

    So, let's try again:

    1) What model phone are you using (3G or 3GS?)
    2) What version of the OS is the phone currently running (3.1.3, I presume?)
    3) What version bootloader do you have? (Fuzzyband will tell you if you install it)

If you're running an iPhone 3G with 3.1.3 with the 5.08 Bootloader, then you should be able to jailbreak 3.1.3 and use Fuzzyband to downgrade the baseband back to the previous version -- but that's a lot of if's based on the information at hand. Let me know and I can provide better information.

You should never have upgraded to OS 3.1.3, there is generally no way to downgrade the modem firmware. Try fuzzyband downgrader from Cydia, that is your only chance (and it's a very slim chance)
