hi everyone,
i am on 18 months contract on o2 uk(will finish at the end of january 2010) and now moved out of uk for good, my question is what happens if i just cancel the direct debit from my bank accout on the internet without telling o2?

Your contract will get cancelled. You will receive more and more threatening letters until you get taken to court and the baliffs come round and your credit histry will be screwed so you will never get another phone contract or any other sort iof credit again.
But your iPhone will still work.
Unless, of course, O2 block the IMEI but I doubt if they'd be so mean.....

Sorry but thats a bunch of rubbish. i got my o2 contratc in november 2007 with a iPhone and cancelled my direct debit in december 2007. i now get a monthly bill via email and post and i pay with a credit card. they have never threatend to cancel my contract, i just have to pay manually so to speak.
P.S. just got FREE UPGRADE to iPhone 3G S 32GB from o2!!! PM me for info or i might create a post telling you how when i have time (at work now)

Not what happens if I cancel my DD and pay by some other means.
My answer still stands.

Best thing to do is to ask O2. I'm sure you will be able to downgrade. Tell them your situation and see what they can do for you.
Good luck!
