Question Weird problem with touch screen

Hello. I've bought used iphone 3G recently and I'm having weird problem with the touchscreen. When it's locked for some time it won't get unlocked, because touchscreen doesn't respond to slides/swipes/touchs/etc. but if I press lock button (one on the top of the device) twice (lock->unlock) then I'm able to unlock it by sliding finger - like it should work.
Sometimes touchscreen becomes unresponsive in device active (not locked) state, cure is the same - lock->unlock.
As I can tell it is not firmware related, I've installed 2.0.2, 2.2.1 and 3.0 b3 firmwares on it (actually latter is the reason I can't return the iphone to the previous owner - it was locked version, so because of baseband version 04.24.02 it can't be unlocked to local operators, so phone functions don't work) now there is 2.2.1 jailbreak installed (jailbreaking was done using quickpwn 2.5).
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Its noticed many time and its perfectly normal apart from this there are some known applications which creates the same problem you can just try removing all applications installed and see if its there

Normal? By my judging it would be normal if happened several (1-2, even 10 !!!) times a day, not almost always (about 95%).

Unfortunately it's there immediately after OS re-installation, so I can't blame apps.

    UPDATE:
I tried sensitivity increase hack (addition of "Touch" menu item to general settings and setting slider there to 0.0) with no result

    Any more ideas?

I have same problem Iphone 2g 8g. I changed firmware several times. It doesn't help. Maybe some hardware repair needed? I do not want to change screen - it is too expensive. Maybe somebody found some solution?
