Default wanting to reset iphone 3g with ios 4.1 with baseband updated to 6.15

I have an iphone 3g 16 gig that is running on ios 4.1 which was jailbroken on redsnow 0.9.6b6. it has the ipad 6.15 baseband version installed so it could be unlocked by ultrasnow (no official sim card available). Sam was also installed to avoid any battery issues.

I am wanting to sell it but i am wanting to erase any personal information off of it. ordinarily i would just do an erase all content and settings but since the iphone was updated to baseband 6.15 a restore to official software wont work.

My question is how do i do it. Can i restore to custom firmware using snowbreeze and hacktivating it. then install sam. and then ultrasnow. or can i just rerun redsnow without doing an erase all content and settings. and reinstall ultrasnow and sam. or is there an easier way to do it.

    please let me know

I would suggest restoring to custom firmware using snowbreeze. Its the only way to restore and at the same time erase all your personal data.
Any official restore will result in errors. You can choose custom firmware which will activate the iPhone if necessary. Then you just need to install ultrasnow and SAM.
1 Custom firmware (activated, cydia included) using snowbreeze
    2 Ultrasnow
    3 SAM

We don't recommend or support sn0wbreeze here (use pwnagetool instead)
Redsn0w won't work in your situation (it only jailbreaks the current OS)
Erase all content and settings is 99% of the time a bad idea (I wouldn't get into the habit of using it)

    Otherwise @navco786 is 100% correct.

Sorry, haven't been on here for a while so didn't realise snowbreeze was not recommended or supported. I'm guessing you don't own a Mac so:
    1 Buy a Mac
2 Custom firmware (activated, cydia included) using pwnagetool
    3 Ultrasnow
    4 SAM

If you cannot afford a Mac, snowbreeze still exists but we don't talk about snowbreeze

navco786 - yeah we have had a long-standing policy of not recommending anything by ih8sn0w.
This might need reviewing as he has resolved pretty much all of the issues (reliability, technical, copyright violations etc) that originally prompted us to not recommend his software.

You don't need an actual mac, just the free VirtualBox, a legitimate 10.6 or 10.5 install DVD and a PC with enough memory to virtualize a hackint0sh'd OSX install.

Thanks everyone. I am sorry I had no idea that snowbreeze was not supported here. I dont have a mac to run pwnagetool. Thanks for the advise. I suspected that i would have to install custom firmware. My only question it can i do it with that other tool which i wont mention anymore.

I was just kidding. Its no big deal to mention snowbreeze. Im a technical person and to me politics and computers do not mix. The fact is, snowbreeze exists and you can use it the way people use pwnagetool on Macs. Go for it.
