    Default Troubleshooting iPhone

I have an iPhone, here are the symptoms:

It absolutely has to be plugged into the computer for it to turn on.

If it's not in the computer and I press a button, it wont do anything.

Once it's in the computer, it displays a gray screen with a white apple logo in the middle of it.

After a while, the device will shut it's self off and reboot to the gray screen.

What can possibly be causing this? I mean the phone works because it's functioning correctly, maybe the memory is corrupt and I need to restore?

Thanks for the help in advance!

A restore is definitely worth a try. If a normal restore doesn't work try DFU

    hey

I've tried both DFU and Restore mode. It wont go into either.

None of the buttons respond and it instantly dies once its unplugged from the comp

This sounds like hardware / battery problem.
