    Default AT&T cancellation and billing

Hi all, I'm here to share my experience as well as get some of your inputs.

I have purchased 20 iphones, 4 family plans (5 lines each), at different dates.

    1st plan was purchased @ July 21st, 2nd @ July 22nd, 3rd and 4th @and July 27th.
The bills came up to $541, $520, $472 and $472 respectively.

I called ATT trying to set a cancellation date on the 31st day of each contract, but they informed me that I can only cancel the contracts on September 1st, which is when the billing cycle ends.

This will reduce my ETF to $170, but it still doesn't cover my cost on the prorated charges.

The representative said that the cancellation date depends on my billing cycle and I can only cancel it at the end of each cycle. I have friends that have set their cancellation date to be 31st day of their activation date. Has anyone have experience with this?

If this is true, would it mean that if I bought the iphones on Aug 2nd, I would have to pay the prorated bill from Aug 2nd to Sept 1st, PLUS the next billing cycle from Sept 2nd to Oct 1st?

I don't think that they should have the power to hold your contract for the extra days after the original 30 days.

    Any input would be great.

You'd be paying alot of fees... 200 for phone, 175 ATT ETF, 36 activation fee, 70 for one month of service, approx. 200 ETF for t-mobile plus tax.

    Your best bet is to:
-Sign up for a new plan with ATT (keeping your t-mo account untouched, don't port or anything; pretend you don't have a cell phone going in)
-Wait for one month of service then cancel the plan
200 for phone, 170 ETF, 70 one month service, 36 activation.

I had a differnt experience. The first bill came with prorated July charges + full first month 8/2-9/2. However, when I called and cancelled, I was told that there will be a credit on the next bill . I,e I will have to pay 170 minus part of august that I'm not using
