Default Stuck in DFU Mode -- need help

Hey guys, my friend's iPhone was working fine and now it's stuck in DFU mode, when I turn it on, it's a black screen all the time.

Tried 3.1.2, .3, 4.0, nothing seems to cut it... I've tried on both mac and Windows, and I keep getting errors when restoring, on mac iRecovery doesn't see it so I can't do anything with it...

As soon as I plug it in it says it's in recovery mode and my only option is to do a restore.

When I try to restore I usually get:
The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).
I also get error 1604 with 3.1.2 on Mac which doesn't even move the progress bar.
3.1.2 on Windows gives me error (6) also, and the progress bar on the iPhone gets to about 55%.
3.1.3 on Windows gives me error (6) also, and the progress bar on the iPhone gets to about 65%.

4.0 gets the furthest progress bar on the iPhone, but it never goes all the way, and I never get errors 1011, 1013, 1015, which would allow me to use iRecovery, it's always something else.

What can I do/try? What do you suggest?

Update: I guess this is the reason 3.1.2 doesn't work -- Apple stopped signing it... http://www.hackint0sh.org/f203/109567.htm
Still can't get 3.1.3 nor 4.0 on it...

Apple stopped signing 3.1.2 but that only applies to iPhone 3Gs, which one do you have? I assumed it was a 3G since you posted in this section....

If it is a 3Gs, you have to restore to 4.0.1.

Your problem is likely security software installed on your windows PC.

Look at iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues
and Update and restore alert messages on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in that.

Why did you include iPod Touch logs as well? Was there an iPod that did not restore?

I have Avira, that's about it. I have been able to restore a different iPhone on this same computer though. I really have nothing blocked, nor using anything fancy for security (bad practice I know but it helps me avoid this type of issues)

Just posted the ipod log because the log was created when I tried the restore as well.

Let me try some stuff on those guides...

I already tried with Avira disabled and it didn't work either

Thank you both for your input.
