Stuck with 02.30.03: now what? (do new iPhones come with 02.30.03?)
If you're not interested in reading the full story (I encourage you to do because maybe you'll be able to tell me something else
), basically my question is whether the new iPhones are shipped with 02.30.03 or with 02.28. I'm with Fido (Canada).
Now...
I'm completely new to the iPhone scene. I'm not iPhone savvy at all. All I knew was that there are unlocked iPhones, which inclined me to buy it over other phones.
My phone arrived 3 days ago on Friday. The first thing I noticed was the annoying battery bar, so I found a web app called Battery Info and by trying to install that on my iPhone, I found out what jailbreaking is (sort of. I'm still not sure what actually happens when the phone is jailbroken).
After jailbreaking my iPhone and downloading some apps, my next move was to figure out how to unlock my iPhone. That's when I learned that i had to follow some special instructions when jailbreaking my iphone or connecting it to itunes. I don't know whether it was the jailbreaking or whether I updated my firmware with itunes or whehter my new iphone was shipped with 02.30.03, but basically my modem firmware (which I'm guessing is the baseband) is 02.30.03 right now. And I'm reading that it's impossible to downgrade it and I can't do anything but wait until june when a new firmware is released and DevTeam starts working on it (how long does that usually take?).
So apart from getting a new iPhone, I don't see how else I can unlock my iPhone. My question is, do the new iPhones come with 02.30.03 already installed? Once again, I'm with FIDO in Canada.
Thanks a lot.
