    It is all about the MCC. The iPhone gets the MCC and needs it. We need to find a way to trick that one routine in locationd.

    Compare the routine and their execution

    Code:
    bool CLDaemonModemModel::isGpsProhibitedByNetwork()
    subscriber country %03d prohibits GPS
    serving country %03d prohibits GPS
    modem off

    249559263.713,bool CLDaemonModemModel::isGpsProhibitedByNetwork(): subscriber country 602 prohibits GPS
    2008-11-28 12:01:03.725 locationd[339:10b] *** CFMessagePort: bootstrap_register(): failed 1100 (0x44c) 'Permission denied', port = 0x5003, name = 'com.apple.locationd.registration'
    Check a bit around and you'll find
    "CLClientRegisterclient is blacklisted - not retrying
    com.apple.locationd.registrationcould not send registration request to daemon"
    in /Syszem/Library/Frameworks/Core.Location.framework/CoreLocations

    and an interesting plist here

    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.locationd.plist

    Thats the one to follow.

    as i said, i'm out for a few days, too much work here, just wanted to share
    I checked the plist file mentioned by volkspost and I believe this file only decides if the daemon should run all the time or only n demand. Its value would be only the battery consumption.

    For the guy who tricked the locationd with a turbo sim and has problem with the SMS. Would you please let us know what is the Top output of your iPhone

    *sim stuff does not help much here cause they trick MCC/MNC by hardware anyway. And as of now - as far as I know - they sre stuck with the 2.1 baseband cause apple closed one of the exploits allowing *sim to work.

    just my 2 cent
