Default Sales of iPhone in INDIA? Plenty/Hardly?

Anyone have an idea how strong are the sales for the iPhone in India?

Do we have any sales figures from Vodafone or Airtel?

Any expected price drops in the next few months?

Ohh btw.. whos got the iPhone from vodafone? vodafone seems to be charging for their data plans like Rs.500 for 250MB. While airtel is giving 500MB free per month for 12 months!!

sales are LOW. 98% of the iphones in India are purchased in the US and brought in.
I dont know how they do it but the grey market is filled with them.

    Price drop is expected.

    What are you talking about?

The iPhone 3G's are almost all out of stock.

Atleast in Mumbai. Vodafone is totally out of 16GB's and have only few 8GB's left.

Airtel has plenty not sold though.

Apple iStore in Mumbai in my area, recieved stock of 62 iPhone 3G's (most Vodafone, some Airtel). ALL SOLD OUT.

The sales are definately better than expected, even at the price.

Heck, I bought 2.... See my sig. Lol

Grey markets dont have the iPhone 3G's.. Heera Panna, Alfa, etc. are selling Official Vodafone/Airtel pieces.

There were very few 16GB Unlocked phones in Heera Panna, which went for 40k'ish.

well i guess u have a money stockpile or something then lol..

those numbers seem decent enough.. but i guess that will drop soon as those who can afford it at that price will be buying it now.. others will wait.

plus airtel is giving 500MB data package free per month for 1 year so dont know why people are goin with vodafone..

Vodafone is cheaper by Rs 2000($45).

Last time when i went to pay my Airtel bill, I enquired about iPhone at airtel and for past few days I received a few calls from them about iPhone and even was asking about whether I want a sales person to come to my home to have a demo of it. I dont think the sales are that good. they sounds desperate to get sales.

In Cochin, Kerala(South India). Guess it must be same everywhere. And the price difference is there for all models. Both 8GB and 16GB. The r giving discount to everyone. Dont think there was any official announcement. But I this is what happens when u go to a Vodafone store. Officially they say that only apple can reduce the price.

Yeah, I am sure the sales are going good, I am from a remote town near Poona, called Ahmednagar. The Vodafone store told me that very few 16GB white piece's are available and that mine would have to be ordered, so it took 4 days!!! Prices are already 2000 less, as someone mentioned earlier. Expect it to get lower. I also heard Airtel reduced price of 16GB To 35000. So yes, In my opinion, prices will be going down.
