I have an unlocked iphone with modified sim card [Stealth method]
Anyone know what I do when I go to Rogers and get upgraded to a new iphone?

Seeing as the 1st Gen iPhone was never sold in Canada you will not be able to do a similar upgrade as those in countries where the 1st Gen was sold.

If you have an existing contract with Rogers and you're eligible for a hardware upgrade then I believe you'll get the iPhone 3G at the $199 and $299 rates. As for the plan to use, depends on what you currently have. I think you could sign a new 3 year contract with one of their iPhone plans, or you could add data to your existing plan.

One thing I do know, if you are an existing Rogers customer and you are NOT eligible for a hardware upgrade then your only option is to cancel your existing contract and start a new one by purchasing the iPhone. For me this means a $400 early cancellation fee, plus the price of the iPhone, and then the cost of whatever plan I choose. The reason it's $400 is because I've got more than 20 months left on my 3 year contract that I signed in January. It does vary between $100 and $400. It would be nice if they had a similar deal to AT& where you can simply purchase a new iPhone3G (8GB) for $399, so a $200 ECF, but you're then NOT paying an additional amount to get the iPhone 3G.

The best thing to do would be to pop along and ask them what they'll do for you. The problem here is if you are using Rogers and you have a voice and data plan, then they may be a bit funny about it, as you are using a phone that may not be covered by their plans, and thus breaking their terms and conditions. This could be why others have experienced them basically not caring.

Thanks so much for that info...I am eligible for upgrade and my only question now is what I do with my modified sim card and old phone.
    I'll figure it out...
    Thanks again

I have two unlocked 2G iPhones and I ordered my 3G iPhone this morning and I'm wondering if now that Rogers is an official iPhone carrier if I can update my 2G phones to 2.0 and not worry about unlocking to use with Rogers or if it will always need to be unlocked for Rogers as it to locked to AT&T?
    Thx,
    RG
Should have mentioned they are software unlocked using ZiPhone.

this is going to get confusing. 2g (2nd Gen) is the 3G iphone, there is no 2gig iphones, if you update your iphone to 2.0. you will have to unlcok the baseband even if you are with rogers.

The baseband is locked, so you still need to Anysim (or whatever) the original iPhone.

I used a second account on my plan to upgrade to the iPhone... They only had 8GB phones available unfortunately, but at least I'm up and running..

I called and added the $30 / 6GB package to both my accounts and visual voice mail. I haven't had a chance to test if Visual Voicemail will work on my original iPhone..... The guy at Rogers did tell me that the $30 plan doesn't work with Edge devices, so I'll have to see if I get shafted with a crazy bill at the end of the month. I was previously on the $65 (pre-flex) 1GB data plan (But paid $35 because I called and complained about Telus having better plans, so they gave me $30 credit... I wonder if anyone removed it...)

I can't believe how long I was waiting at the Rogers store. Their system crashed so every agent in the country (seemed that way) was CALLING IN activations, you can imagine how long that took... I was #12 in line and was there for 4 hours.

Oh yeah, about an hour after I got home, Fido called and wanted to upgrade an account I had with them. I told the guy to send me an iPhone 16GB without touching my account... Apparently I'll get one in 5 days. I wonder how that's going to work out, since I'm not changing anything on my account and I'm not going to be in the store to activate it.

I might be selling my Rogers 8GB 3G in 1.5 weeks time Assuming they crack the new baseband and manage to unlock it (Unless Fido phones work on Rogers and vice versa...)
