so no one can fix this? not one single person from any of the dev teams/ geohot, muscle nerd? no one???
Same problem here. 9 Error in my 3Gs - 4.0 with SHSH saved. 9 also gives error if I try to 4.1
Mac 10.5.8
iTunes 9.2.1 (5)
After using the GPS locator crashed.
I did a restart and the machine run for a few minutes, everything seemed normal, but crashed and showed invalid SIM.
After reset the network settings it stuck on "loading" screen, until the screen Restore Mode.
I tried everything I read, DFU, different computers, cables, USB ports, I switched the dock charge, tested the logic board in another system battery ... lit candle to the saint, relaxing cigarette ... does nothing to change. Let's hope for a solution of the most experienced.
Some details: in the first restoration attempt, he started the installation normally. When you begin installing the Modem Firmware, had the error 14. After that he was insistent on the error 9.
Log files
Error log file 14 (the first):
#1176170 - Pastie
Other logs with error 9:
#1176180 - Pastie
#1176182 - Pastie
#1176183 - Pastie
Also tested another within the same logic board recover (battery, charging dock) and it worked normally, which proves that there is a problem with USB.
Let's hope for this solution!
My guess is that there is something deliberate in this process. Apple promised to get heavy with the unlocks ...
Good luck friends. Any breakthrough in
Nope it is not a USB problem, in your case it is a NAND problem - your logs show several indications that the kernel crashes while trying to reallocate bad blocks on the NAND or access the NAND. I think you have faulty/failing NAND.
The first error 14, the NAND could be found and the OS restored to it, but the verify of the restore failed.
Up til the 3GS, the NAND stores the OS and user files. This is the 16GB or 32GB of storage that apple advertises comes with your device.
Newer devices can also use NAND to store the initial boot files that were stored in a separate NOR on older devices.
Error 9 with stock apple firmware seems often indicate a ramdisk kernel crash - the crash usually relates to a hardware problem (depending on where it failed in the restore process)

Right Olethros, but all you do is just keep saying what are the exact problems, but you are not giving us any kind of positive clues or hopes that this can be fixed.
Can you please contact some more people about this like the brains in the dev teams and address it to them. I thought that im the only one who had this problem but obviously this guy is also having a similar problem, and I am sure that there are many more as I have googled alot in the last few weeks and noticed that fair share of people are having this same issue.
My only other option is to take it to the apple store and they are willing to give me a refurbished 3G 16gb{same one that I have now that wont work} but they are asking me to pay them 200 dollars for it! I already pay 150 for this bricked iPhone so its like im wasting 350 dollars for this b.s!
I should have waited and I would have been able to find a 3GS for around 300 or less here in the U.S in craigslist.com{U.S Website for free advertisements}

As I said, I have already asked a member of the iPhone dev team for help. The problem is not software. The guys in the iPhone dev team are mostly focused on software (at least with respect to the iPhone), there are other independent figures who do hardware work and repairs - as a real business - they could likely fix this for you.
You are not entitled to never ending free support here, I have no obligation to run around asking people to help you on your behalf.
Also, don't make the mistake of thinking that the true price of an iPhone is so cheap. The unsubsidised price of each top end iPhone model has been approx $700 - even more if it is officially unlocked.
$200 from Apple for a refurb is a fair price if you consider that $700 unsubsidised price. I understand your case you have thrown $150 on something that does not work, however that is to be honest your problem/mistake. You took a chance that this was an easy fix, it turned out that it wasn't.
