My question to you guys is why is apple releasing the first gen iPhone in Indai in september where as the US and europe are getting the 3G iphone in june?

We got the MAc Air when everyone got it so why not the iPhone and the iPhone 3G?

I personally will get my hands on a 3G if it can be activated, unlocked and jailbroken?
but why such a hassle why cant we just have the phone here too ?

why should apple release the old iphone in india??
i dont think so. The old iphone will nit longer be produced as u see in den apple stores. so wh should they produce it again, only for india?

Yeh I cant see them releasing the old model still...it would be waste of time for them.

its called marketing strategy. first they start selling the first generation iphone and make good sales. after most people bought and sales aren't going better they start selling 3G iPhone. that's one thing i don't like about apple, their products aren't user friendly. consider iPhone's bluetooth which can only be used with bluetooth headsets, and most of all, they didn't put copy & paste function which won't take hours to do. but business going too well. i hope apple would put this into account in coming 3G iPhone.

and why should apple do this "stragedy" only in india? the iphone will be introduced in so many countries this year. so why only india?
and apple products ARE user fiendly. thats what apple stands for. intuitive and user friendly!!!

this is not only for india im sure, the reason i say they are gonna release the onl iphone in indai is because not all of india is 3G compatable. I live in bangalore and we dont have edge (as far as i know) and new delhi (capital) has 3G.
So why would apple release the 3G when they can sell the OLD. I'm sure all countaries that do not have 3G and dont have the iphone yet will be getting the old iphone

The only real (and good) reason to sell the "old" stuff is if you have some of the old stuff lying around. I don't think this is the case for Apple (not in USA anyway, maybe in Europe). All in all, the 3G model will surelly support edge too.

In fact, it costs MORE to produce both models at the same time (the old and the new one), simply because this forces you to mantain two distinct production lines.

Of course, this could be a marketing strategy. If 3G is not widely deployed in India, there would be no hurries to launch the 3G model to the indian customers (basically because it will cost more, either to the customer or to the telco itself).

Well, let just be happy that they will release it to some countries now..
not like before that AT&T is the only carrier.

second, we wont see the 1st gen iPhone in India cause Apple doesnt do that. They prefer to refresh a product completely... thats why there is no stock of the 1st gen iPhone even in the US

the 3G iphone can work on 2.5G and 3G networks, it will work in india..
