[QUICK QUESTION] iPhone Purchase & Useage?

Hey everyone. i am brand new to the iPhone scene so bare with me please. My girlfriend just bought me (off ebay) a new never opened iPhone 3G. I am asking this question before I do anything with it.

Now since I am already an AT&T customer, can I just put the SIM in this thing and it work? Or do I have no choice but to upgrade my plan to that BS iPhone plan?

You dont have to

Just make sure you call them and have a data block put on for your plan if you dont get the data plan, otherwise you will be paying alot as things tend to randomly connect

you could always just jailbreak your phone (with quickpwn), bypassing the legitimate itunes activation.

then put in your at&t sim card, get a 3g data plan (optional), and you're good to go!

I'm an orginal iPhone owner with the 'Iphone Plan'. if you upgrade to 3g do you have to upgrade your plan as well? do i have to pay more for my 3g iphone plan?
