Buying an iphone 3g from ebay - What should I look out for?
I'm planning to get myself an iphone 3g from ebay, since the prices have been going down after the release of the 3gs.
But what I'm wondering is if it's safe to buy those unlocked iphone 3g phones from ebay? I remember some months ago that some people were offering some unlocking sim solutions that weren't working that well because of how the 3g registered it self with the GSM network.
Is there anything I should keep an eye on when looking for a unlocked iphone from ebay? Any special firmware/baseband/bootloader versions that are best for unlocking?
Also, should I maybe not worry about if the phone has been unlocked before, and just get a locked phone with the correct version of firmware/bootloader/baseband, and unlock it myself? In theory that might be a little cheaper, but I haven't checked it out though.

Reason: Title updated from "buy"
To put this in short: Will I be able to unlock any iphone I buy from ebay? Indepentent of it's baseband version?
I read in this tutorial: iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock the iPhone 3G Using UltraSn0w that you have to have baseband (modem firmware) 04.26.08 , but they also provide a link to another tutorial if you don't have that baseband. So to me it seems like it doesn't matter what baseband you have. I haven't found any specific information about bootloader versions. I guess it doesn't matter then.
