Slightly untrue. If you plan on going through the iTunes activation process and signing a two-year contract you can use an unactivated sim.

:-? Look like you can by pass the activation process by using winpwn or quickpwn. By doing that your phone will be activation+jailbreak at the same time. Then you don't need the unactivated sim anymore.Hope it help. (Because you sound like you buy the iphone 3g somewhere and it was unactivate and you want to use some unactivate sim to activate the phone...Am i correct?)

as long as your iPhone is from ATT, u can use any ATT card to activate it ...

I have done more than 500 iPhone 3G activations ....

everytime i lost the SIM on my table, i just open a NEW and UNACTIVATED SIM to activate the iPhone through iTune

Hi, I bought an AT&T locked iPhone 3G from eBay and now I use it in Germany with a software unlock. Everything is working fine except I had to take the keys for push notificaton from my old iPod touch because my iPhone is only hacktivated. So I bought a AT&T prepaid sim to activate my iPhone. Now I need advice with it. What do I have to do? I guess that my iPhone is officially activated before, is this a problem? What do I have to do with the prepaid sim card, do I need to register it at the at&t website first? Of course I don't want any contract or pay anything just for the activation and I don't want to use a credit card for the activation.
Any help would be great. What are the steps I have to perform? Or isn't it working what I want to do?

    Greetings,

    Tim
