    Default Problems jailbreaking/unlocking 3g with 3.0.1

I have a 3g with 3.0.1 using firmware 04.26.08. Im kind of new to this whole Iphone thing, so bear with me please. I have been with AT&T for the last five years, and recently bought a SIMM from Simple Mobile, figuring it would be much cheaper. (AT&T was $140 mo, Simple Mobile is $40.) So I bought the SImple Mobile SIMM, and tried to install it, and Im pretty sure the good folks at AT&T must have locked it. Im pretty sure I had it jailbroken and unlocked before I went into AT&T to get a SIMM. So Ive spent quite a few hours trying to use this method.

    1. Install Redsn0w 0.8
    2. Copied a 3.0 IPSW
    3. When I ran Redsn0w, I used the 3.0 IPSW
    4. Redsn0w ran fine, and said that the phone was jailbroken.
    5. After all of this, I try to run Cydia, so that I can run Ultrasn0w, but it just says "loading", then kicks me out.

Ive tried everything I can think of, like trying "Icy", restoring from an earlier version from 2000, everything BUT installing the current version from Itunes. (I think its 4.2?) ANyhow, this is driving me nuts, and any help at all would be so greatly appreciated!!! Im about ready to take it somewhere, but I know it cant be that difficult!!! Im sick of getting robbed by AT&T every damn month for $140! Thats robbery!!

If I have to upgrade to a newer version, I will. Ive had bad experiences doing this in the past. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

    Thanks
    Pinkpez

    Default

I ended up taking it to a guy locally and he worked on it for a few hours, using custom ISPW's, and ended up having a "1611" error, which is a hardware problem. I took it to a hardware person who may or may not have been able to fix it. I will find out today.
