    Default [Problem] iPhone Doesn't Boot

Guys!!! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!! My iphone 1G won't boot up! It won't go past the apple logo. It can't even sync to iTunes! I've tried pressing the reset and home buttons, but nothing happens.

This happened when I synced the phone to iphone tunnel suite and removed a couple of files I shouldn't have. The result was that when I tried to reboot, the phone doesn't boot past the apple logo! What do I do? Please guys, I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP !!!!

You are in iPhone 3G section & talking about your iPhone 1G ?????

If it is an old iPhone 2G (first generation, silver back):
Put the iPhone in DFU mode

    1.
Make sure to have iTunes 8.1.1 installed, connect iPhone and Mac/PC and shutdown iTunes if running/Starting.
    2. Shut down the iPhone by holding Home and Start/Sleep until screen goes black, let go of both buttons.
    3. Press HOME and Start/Sleep fpr 10 seconds (count 100, 200, 300,...)
    4. Let go of Start/Sleep but keep holding Home.
    5. Hold home until iTunes starts automatically (about 10-20 seconds)
    6. Keep holding Home until iTunes finds an iPhone in Recovery mode.
    7. Let go of home.
    8. The iPhone's screen is black = DFU mode
    9. Restore in iTunes to get 2.2.1 on the iPhone
    10. Use PwnageTool or Quickpwn to jaibreak, activate unlock.

One more tipp. Once the iPhone is unlocked, iTunes will offer to recover "data from a backup". Dont do it, instead "setup as a new iPhone". Recover option might bring back corrupt preference files that cause trouble.

    Sync as usual then.

ATTENTION: If it is an iphone 3G (new one, black or white back) make sure to shift-restore to firmware 2.2 NOT 2.2.1 to make sure beeing able to unlock it later on.

Thanks for the reply, volkspost. The problem is that iTunes doesn't recognize the phone. But, yesterday, for some unknown reason, iTunes was able to recognize the phone in recovery mode. iTunes then downloaded software for it (I guess, 2.2.1). But after the download was complete, iTunes gave an error message stating the following: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred OxE80000001."

I went to the apple store yesterday and they told me they can't fix unlocked phones. What do I do now?

On this error make sure to have clicked "Restore" in iTunes and NOT "Update".
And again: Put the iPhone in DFU mode (black screen) and then Restore to 2.2.1.

Hi, volkspost. I finally and THANK GOD restored, jailbroke and unlocked my iphone. And I thank YOU for it... YOU THE MAN!!! However, when I try to connect to the net through wifi, I get an error message saying:

'Could not locate cellular data network: you are not subscribed to a cellular data service.'

And just to let you know, I have no problems connecting to the net through wifi before, even before my iphone was bricked. And I NEVER had a data plan and was still able to conect without a problem. How do I get this thing to connect to the net through wifi? Thanks!

This sounds weired. WiFi and data via simcard are two different stories. You should be able to connect to a WiFi Hotspot (at least your WiFi router) even if there is no simcard in your iPhone.
Try to reset Network settings in Settings on the iPhone, please and then try to re connect to a WiFi hotspot.
