Hey everyone, i have just brought a used iphone 3g on the weekend, the gentleman i brought it off lost it in feb and then called his service provider to have it imei blocked. A couple of weeks later he found it in his room, and advertised it on a local forum as "Blocked 3g Iphone, never able to use in Australia again."
So i decided to buy it and crack it, but after many many hours researching over the weekend it seems that this is not possible.
Today i called the imei regester for Australia and found that its only blocked to Australian networks. Tomorrow i am going to try a Philipino sim card and see if International roaming will work.
Anyone have a similar problem that they managed to fix? I know that imei tampering is illegal so i don't need to be reminded.
Otherwise does someone from the States with an imei blocked iphone 3G want to somehow swap me for mine?

Even international simcard still wont work, roaming is still using Australia's network. best to use it overseas

but its only blocked to Australian carriers. im trying to send it overseas anyway, if anyone has one they wish to swap, can setup a ebay sale where we purchase each others phone.

Why don't you get the guy to call and let them know he found it and remove it off the imei blocked list?

because i no longer know how to contact him, easiest option is to swap overseas, thinkin of giving it to my relatives in uk unless i get an offer to swap.

I bought iPhone on the street and the iphone is not woring due IMEI .. i dont know, how to change IMEI on 3g phone, then, im writing to you. Im ebay user, than we can change it .. what is configuration of your iphone ? My is used, but looks really good (10/10), i have 16Gb one .. I would change it .. if you have only 8gb, it is not problem. Hope you write soon.

I guess I'd never buy an iphone on the street, you can't know where does it really come from and might well be stolen...
