Upgraded via iTunes, need activation

Ok Guys

I have read a lot of post and have tried just about everything! Here is the situation.

I recently switch carriers from AT&T to Sprint because the coverage by my house was nil with AT&T. I I have been using my Iphone 3G as a Ipod basicly. Lastnight I plugged into ITunes to change the music and it said there was an update and do I want to install so I clicked yes. during the install my pc locked up and shut down in the middle of the update.

So now the problem!!!!!! When I plug the Iphone into my ITunes it wants an active sim card to activate so I used a guys here at work from his 3G Iphone like mine and it still wont recognize it.

Can anyone tell me how to get past this screen PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, first thing.. if your upgrade failed halfway through, you might be best off restoring your iPhone. Backup first.

Secondly read this article Using an iPhone without a wireless service plan it suggests that you should be able to activate with your friend's AT&T SIM.

Otherwise, you can hacktivate with redsn0w, but I would try a clean restore and then activating with your friend's SIM first.

I just took apart my Iphone. I did find tht one of the prongs that make contact with the sim is broke. Just so you guys know I am a avionics tech and I have a cleanroom for the inside of electronics. What I think happened is that I put the simcard holder in place without a Sim card and the bottom of the holder grabed the prong when I removed it and broke the Tab. so That is why it wont recognize the sim card. So is there another way to get past the screen without a sim at all Thanks for the help guys!!!

Yes you can hacktivate via redsn0w 0.9 This gives you everything besides push notifications.

I have downloaded redsn0w and I dont know what to do next!!!! when I click the .exe I get a box that says browse I have tried to look for the ISWP but I cant find it can someone please help with this. and does any one know where I can get broken I phone for parts????? I need the first board that has the sim card slot on it
