"Unlock" any Region format on 2.1
I have been trying hard to mod the icudt34l.dat on 2.1 FW in order to unlock the Region formats for almost all countries, and especially mine ( Morocco ), which is not unfortunately among the official iphone coutries, but without any success!!
To hack iphone locales is not an easy task, even for the most talented hacker!
In order to customize a locale, you will need to edit the internal database of locale settings. They are stored in the ICU data file (/usr/share/icu/icudt34l.dat).
Then I happen to read, after some research, a thai forum where they describe a very easy trick to get your Region Format for 2.1 FW, and this trick is valid for any country, at least it worked for mine and I am quite sure it should work for any country, providing you know the 2 "official" letters of your country.
For Morocco, it is "ma". For Thailand, it is "th", etc......
Now, here is the method:
1. install Erica Utilities via Cydia
2. use terminal of winscp via SSH and type(remember this is for Morocco: ma_MA):
/usr/bin/plutil -s AppleLocale -v ma_MA /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
Then execute
3. Respring your 3G iphone.
Now, if you go to Settings/General/International, you will find in Region Format for this particular case : Morocco!
Et Voila, an easy and quick way to get any Region Format for any country!!!
The only trick is to replace the ma_MA by the initials of your particular country.
For example, for Thailand, it would be th_TH .
ENJOY:D:D
PS : You can find your country by using this site:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_d...u_d%27Internet
UPDATE : I also found out that you could change the language of the date by alternating :
For example, for Morocco :
-if you use ma_MA : you get the date in english, no matter what the language is defined!
-if you use fr_MA : you get the date in french, no matter what the language is defined!

I do not have Mac experience, but you can also:
1.install Erica Utilities via Cydia
2.install terminal via Cydia
3.use terminal and type su, return, when asked type alpine for password, then return
4.type the command I gave with the initials of your country, then return
5.reboot iPhone
ENJOY, it should work but I did not try it!
It should be totally harmless for your iphone!:D:D
