Stuck on Apple Boot Logo:Need to Recover Data

hey, my dad's phone got stuck on the apple boot logo, although he doesnt have any backups because his computer fried.... talk about bad luck.... well i've been trying to restore the data, the problem is i don't know what firmware is on the phone. Through research i stumbled upon a blog by msftguy "Data recovery: not just for iBoot-pwned devices" Mostly iPhone hacking: Data recovery: not just for iBoot-pwned devices

I have downloaded the program and created the ipsw, and have tried shift-restore with them although i get an error 14, and then after running itunes as adminstrator i began to get error 3194 instead :S... i have tried 4.2.1 and 4.1, same thing for both.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Please and THANK YOU

So by removing the hosts file i was able to get passed the 3194 error and start the restoring process, but i keep getting error 14**

when you discover that the log is too large for a single post, maybe you should have done some research instead of spamming us with a multi-post split log.

Your restore log was a bit of a mess, i've tried to make sense of it and moved it to a pastesite like you should have done in the first place.

There's something wrong with your IPSW - that is what is causing problems with the restore. Is the iOS version in the IPSW the same iOS version the phone currently has?

The log seems to indicate that the OS partition in the IPSW is larger than the one currently on your phone. This won't ever work.
