[Question] [Solved] iPhone 3G activation, switch to 2g plan

I don't mind having a 2 year contract and I have one question hopefully someone can answer (and maybe from someone who has done it).

Is it possible to get an Iphone 3g from ATT (subsidized and with a contract) and then request that ATT change my account to an Iphone 2g plan (I would activate a used one) with the original data plan? If so, would I have to wait 30 days or would I be able to switch right away?

The reason I ask is there is no 3g service in my job or my home so I might as well not pay an extra $10 month (without text messages included) and I can sell the Iphone 3g to defray the costs of the 2g version.

Any advice or experience would be helpful!

I would like to know this too, Im planning on getting a iphone 3g soon but there is not a city within 200miles that has 3g coverage. I don't wanna pay the extra 10 for 3g because I'll never use it.

Why don't ask directly to AT&T?

Im afraid if I ask ATT then they will say I have to return the Iphone 3g

Rustymetal, I found out the answer in the ATT forums and the answer is yes. 2 new Iphone 3gs here I come! :)
