I'm in a similar situtation.
I don't think it's hardware related and the reason I say that is I can get MyWi to provide connections to my laptop over the WiFi connection.
Is there any way to get openiboot to reset the nvram or some other portion of the phones networking hardware?
The same day my WiFi went out, my GPS also went out.
