I have found that in some countries, the iPhone3G part numbers are slightly different.

Does anybody knows what differences the phone has?
Cheers!

the p/n change from contry to country also for other machine. For exemple for the HP computer the european versione end with -ea, but other country with -us or -tx. But the technical data are the same.
It's for hp that can know where the product was buyed.
Or better where the product MUST be buyed in teory.
this list on the Apple site is INCORRECT :
the iPhones sold/delivered in Belgium are NOT locked to the carrier
actually, all iPhones sold in Belgium are 100% UNLOCKED/SIMfree and ARE SOLD WITHOUT CONTRACT
8GB = 529€ and 16GB 619€, incl. 21% sales tax (VAT)
Hi Probo
Looking at the languages that the user can select for screen/menu to display, I think one of the main difference is the language/s that were pre-programmed considering memory space used; though I am not an expert in these area. Hope it help or make some sense to u.
Thanks
Tracking sales could be done with just the serial number, I don't think thats the goal.
Yeap. I have thought about, but that means the phone doesn't have any "physical differences", only the ipws file that was loaded on it... and also that could be tracked by the serial number, but it seems that the part number is a easier way to do it.
I was thinking about the possible different firmwares / basebands or any other changes that doesn't involves the regional options that could be loaded with different ipsw files; those firmware / baseband differences could be about regional settings needed in order to work properly with the local carrier and network.
Just a thought...
Cheers!
