[iphone 3g]- How do i change mtu?

For some silly reason my router does not send the correct MTU setting to any of my apple products. MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPhone 3g.

I can easily change the MTU on my macbook pro and iphone 2g, through Terminal and ifconfig command.

However, i cannot do this on non-jailbroken iPhone 3g.

Anyone have any other ideas why I have this MTU problem, or how i can fix this on the 3g?

Install OpenSSH in your phone (from Cydia), connect to your phone and use this command:

Replace 1492 by anything (by default the mtu is set to 1500)

Yes, thats what i was doing for the macbook pro and iphone 2g.

My girlfriends iphone 3g is non-jailbroken, and she doesn't want to jailbreak it as it operator unlocked (italian).

So is there any other way to change the MTU?

Or any way to know why my router doesn't send the correct MTU to my Apple devices?

Solution with connecting via ssh works fine. After disconnect (VPN for example) you should change MTU again.
Is it any solution to change MTU settings permanently?

May be to correct any plist file?
