And BTW, my location services is On.
Just a few questions.
Are you using a 2g or 3g iPhone?
If you are on a 2G it wont work because you have no sim.
If you are on a 3G it might not work because you have no way of loading maps, unless you are on a wifi network. Even then the phone will be sticky about not having a sim and may not initiate a location search.
Well Im on a 3g.
I dont want maps. I just want to determine my location.
Check this thread: Interrelation between the GPS module and the carrier network. You may find something interesting.
Nothing helpful :(
Not all networks support GPS, and not all regions broadcast GPS signals..
Well, I installed IntaMapper GPS tracker. It was tracking me.
Then I went to maps and I was able to determine my location. But no maps, just a small dot with a background of grids.
Now I cant determine the location again..
Really interesting. So maybe my Phone company does not support GPS.Quote:

So, i was coming to ask this.
I need a Sim inside to use the GPS?
Thanks

I did a little test of my own. I removed my sim and turned off my wifi. The GPS works absolutely fine. GPS has NOTHING at all to do with the carrier. If your carrier supports cell tower triangulation, then you'll get a faster fix, but you'll eventually get a fix anywhere.
