Early Cancellation
Hey..
i wanted to buy an Iphone and Unlock it myself, but with all the problems around the BB2.30 am not sure if this will happen any day soon :P
So i found couple of Options and i want to ask you guys
1)Buy an Iphone from Fido , Roger or Telus ( I Live in Canada) and Pay for the Early cancellation fee ... My Question is, if i canceled my contract like, 1 week after i bought the iphone, will they ask for the Iphone back ? if not, is it going to be like an Unlocked Iphone, will i be able to use GSM (Vodafone) on it ?
Excuse my lack of knowledge on this matter :) But... is it possible to Jailbreak an iphone with BB2.30 ?
AND...do you think there is a chance that after i buy the Iphone from Fido i find out that it has BB2.28 ? (I hope so :P )
Thanks alot :) and any help will be appreciated

they will not ask for the iphone back, but you'll to pay a large cancellation fee. it will not automatically be unlocked. i believe in the US you have to keep the contract for 6 months (not sure) to ask for an unlock code from at&t. it IS possible to jailbreak a 3G with baseband 02.30.03 but not possible to unlock it...yet. i have heard many rumors of people saying that if the iphone wasn't already 2.2.1, apple had at&t and other providers manually upgrade them in store, before selling. i'm sure it's true in canada too.
best option is to either get a turbo sim until 3.0 OS FINAL comes out and hopefully the dev-team will be able to find a soft unlock. *fingers crossed for me too*

that means that he can cancel the contract and only pay the ETF ( early termination fee) with the first months bill?
and doesnt he wait for 1month to keep the iphone? coz AT&T wants the phone back if someone cancels the contract before 30days? or if he cancels before 1month and pays the ETF they wont want the iphone?

Even if had to buy it Used..
Edit :
I just saw the rebel Sim card thing... what do you think? does it really work ? and if yes, which one am supposed to buy, i could see like 5-6 on their website..
