Do you still have to activate iPhone 3G in store?
Hi. When the 2G iphone was out you could go to an O2 store, buy the phone and then take it home and "activate it/sign up for the contract" using iTunes. So you could walk into the store, buy a iPhone, take it home and unlock it.
Can you do this with the 3G iphone yet or do they still make you activate them in store like they did when they were first released? (I know you have the option to buy a PAYG phone now but I was curious about the contract versions?)
I am asking because my boss brought one the other day. He already has an O2 contract, so I dont know what method he used to buy it (new contract, upgrade or PAYG) but someone was asking me about the plug into iTunes logo when you first turn on, indicating that it is unactivated. If you can buy a contract one for a better price and still "activate" at home then I am off to an O2 shop to upgrade ;)
