3G vs the 2G?
Okay, my birthday just rolled around the corner, and I haven't been keeping up much on the iPhone front.
What are the real differences between the new 3G and the old 2G, once the new firmware is installed?
(Also, is the new firmware fixed so we can jailbreak/unlock/activate it? Because I don't live in the state. >>; )

3G can't be unlocked. It has 3G speeds, and looks different.
-
...and has GPS, better speaker & microphone, different screen colour temperature (bit more on the yellow side)...
-
...and has a headphone jack that you can plug any headphones/earphones into (i.e. it isn't recessed like the 2G)
-
It's thinner btw and the headphone Jack is such a big hit in my oppinion :)

I've messed with 5 3Gs now and I can't see anything yellow about them, I must be color blind.

Can the 3G iPhone be fully unlocked without having to use a Turbo Sim

....It's firmware from 2.0 to 2.1 sucks like hell... Slow, crashing, dropped calls, black-dead screen during incoming call rings... I am getting so sick and tired of this 3G-iPhone-like thing. 1.0 iPhone running 1.1.4 fw was amazing, fast, reliable, never had to reboot... This shit makes me think twice about the iPhone's greatness, which I enjoyed and was so proud of on 1.1.4.
I do like the 3G internet speed (when available and not crashing) and the GPS but that's about it...

I have both the 2G and 3G, i LOVE the speed of the 3G phone. i dont notice any other major differences. If you have a 3G network, and internetspeed is important for you. Go for the 3G model!

I think I prefer the 2g overall...
