3g 3.1.2 bricked? tried everything, even iREB

so..........

i sell a 3g 3.1.2 unlocked / jailbroken perfectly working iphone on craigslist,

i have mod'd tons of phones never had a prob,

the guy brings it back the next day completely bricked, i have tried everything to unbrick it, shift + restore in itunes, ireb, loading older FW's then trying to jailbreak with various older files with redsn0w, nothing will budge it,

any one have any ideas to help me crack this thing?

oh and when i restore with itunes it gives me error 1604..... after it times out while sitting on the apple screen with spinning wheel...

then if i reboot it go's to a plug into itunes screen, if i run iREB it just sits on the apple logo after each reboot...... sigh...

If you can't put the phone in DFU and restore with apple fw then something is wrong.
FWIW, i never ever use ireb. Not sure what it is but blackra1n, pwnagetool, redsn0w are jailbreak tool of choice.

yeah :( i guess theres no software to format whatevers on the device clean? then restore?

A DFU mode or Recovery mode restore basically will wipe everything clean on the phone.
