I updated to 2.2, this breaking my jailbreak, but I see that the 2.2 jailbreak is out.

Last time I jailbroke my phone, I didn't install Cydia, Installer, SSH, etc. It was basically a stock 3G iPhone with the ability to install downloaded apps via iTunes.

I want to do this again. I believe the method I used was the MobileInstallation method. From what I'm reading, the 2.2 cracked MobileInstallation file isn't out but the 2.1 file still works. Is this true? Will I run into any problems with this?

Any and all help is much appreciated. I have both Mac and PC so I can use any method to jailbreak it.

OK, I'm an idiot. QuickPWN has the option to not install cydia/installer and also doesn't install SSH.

Will this allow me to install downloaded apps via iTunes though?

mobileinstallation patch is needed to install unsigned ipa files.

The only way to do it is through Cydia or SSH, right? I tried the old method where you wouldn't enter your password for Pwnage Tool and your iPhone would pop up on your desktop, but it never popped up.

Is it possible to patch mobileinstallation and then remove Cydia? I remember it being a real pain to remove a few months back.

Just curious -what's the reason you don't want to install cydia shh etc?

I ask cuz I'm (obviously) a total n00b at jb-ing and from reading this thread I'm reading it as if cydia and co will prevent one from being able to download apps from the app store.

I'm totally off, right?

It doesn't prevent it, I'm just happy with the official apps so I have no use for Cydia. Installer used to be great before the official app store. Cydia, SSH, bossprefs is all clutter to me. It's kind of like bloat-ware that comes on manufactured PCs.

you're happy with official apps but you don't want to pay for it .... :-)
Like Chronic said, you need the patch to mobileinstalltion to run unsigned apps and how do you get it on the phone without ssh or cydia ? I don't know. Unless apple has a free official SSH on the app store :-) which I doubt that would happen.

Wait. Actually you can. You can use pwnagetool app with the bundle option. If you or someone can create a mobileinstallation patch bundle, that would work.
