Phone is fucked... help please
I attempted to get the new 3.0 software today. I installed it through Xcode and downloaded the .ipsw file from mininova. When I installed it Xcode said that I needed to restore the ipod for the update to take place. I did. The screen turned purple and iTunes said that I wasn't registered as a developer or something like that. Now my phone will not work. I tried restoring it to the older versions but the update process quits at around 60%.
I called Apple and they said that there is literally nothing I can do. I'm fucked. Wait until June for 3.0 to be released to the public.
So, is there anyone here that has a good solution? I'm trying a couple of last things. Holding down the option key when hitting restore and selecting the 2.2.1.ipsw file. But this doesn't look promising.
Thanks for your help.

Well there are a few things you could possibly try.
To begin with, start with you can try to register and get a genuine copy of 3.0 for iPhone and that should sort you out.
Failure to do so, you will need to put your iphone in dfu mode. Please note, it will need to be in dfu mode and not restore mode only. Then open iTunes and send iPhone 2.2.1 firmware through the restore.
As your phone is currently broken, you should only restore in dfu mode as it will rewrite the complete firmware as fresh.
Let us know how you get on.
