Lightbulb O2 will unlock your Iphone after 12 months

    Hi Guys,
I have just spoken to a manager in O2 UK customer service who advised that if you call O2 after 12 months, then they will unlock it for you. You might have to pester and be persistent to speak to a manager. They just unlocked my Iphone 3G for me:iphone:. They did this earlier for me as I was persistent that O2 doesn't work in Nepal as they don't have a contract there for outgoing calls and i insisted that as they don't have service in Nepal, hence it is a operator limitation and hence after 2 days hard work - their manager called me and asked to restore my iPhone after 24 hours using latest version of iTunes. I did as instructed and then popped a vodafone sim card and it worked like a charm. I also tried Orange.

    Best of luck guys¬:hack:

I have an O2uk locked iphone which I bought off ebay (I don't live in the UK). I wonder whether I could settle this unlock case trough email (act angry for paying high roaming price, etc.)? Maybe a call direct to them would work?

I asked the same thing when I first got my iPhone 3G and they told me that their policy of unlocking all O2 phones after 12 months does not apply for iPhones. Are you sure about that ? Also can you tell me what exactly you told them to convince them unlock your iphone because I'm from Cyprus but currently in the Uk and maybe I can use the same excuses.

Tried emaling o2 about unlock telling that I cannot use my iphone as it is locked to o2 uk and I do not live in the uk. Basically they replied that they are technically unable to unlock the iphone (though we know it's a lie). Even pointed them to new zealand official iphone unlock which happend recently but they refused to comment on it. Did anyone tried calling apple directly regarding this question?
