** Newbe Question **

I want an unlocked 3G 16m for use in Guatemala. I am looking for as low cost a solution as reasonable.

My thought is to have a friend in the U.S. purchase the phone at Walmart/Best Buy, activate it with AT&T, break the contract (paying the penalty), and then send the phone to me in Guatemala. ** Please make alternate suggestions if you know of a better solution.

Assuming the above, is it possible for me to install yellowsn0w with an inactive iPhone in Guatemala and then utilize it with a local carrier? What would be required to make the happen?
